A workshop has been organized by SAMEER at IIT Guwahati to spread awareness about the modern techniques used for atmospheric remote sensing and the tools used for this purpose. Atmospheric instrumentation remains a core discipline of SAMEER with long term commitment to work in this field in future. SAMEER has played a significant role in establishing Atmospheric Remote Sensing Technologies and thus has a specialised knowledge base and expertise in this field. SAMEER has more than 3 decades of experience in successful development, installation and commissioning of Atmospheric Radars and other Instrumentation.

Some of the systems developed by SAMEER include ST Radar (first radar of its kind at 212.5 MHz with open architecture) at Gauhati University, Assam, Zenith looking Ka band Cloud Profiling Polarimetric Doppler Radar, MST Radar (2nd largest in the world)at NARL, Andhra Pradesh, UHF Wind Profiler and CW Bistatic RASS for Doppler SODAR at IMD, Pune, Doppler Sodars and Radio Theodolite Systems at Various IMD locations.

These and other radars will be described by distinguished speakers in the workshop. This workshop will be of great help to young as well as experienced scientists and students by way of informative lectures as well as NEAR interaction with the other experts in the field. We invite all the participants to make the most of the expertise collectively available during the workshop.
